We wish to inform you that this year the Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment - SAFE (a SIAM initiative) is organizing its Annual convention 2012 on 3rd May 2012 at Lucknow with the support from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Traffic Police, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The theme of SAFE Convention is Path Towards Road Safety : Best Practices and Intelligent Transport System covering the issues related to Road Safety by adopting best practices by state governments and inclusion of intelligent transport technologies on our roads.

In our country many states have taken step forward by introducing new systems/ rules & regulations which will assist the transport and traffic police department in reducing the fatalities on roads. For example stringent driving licencing system, enforcement in traffic management etc.

In all the developing countries ITS applications for traffic management are in full development. There are high expectations of their road safety effects.  Theoretical analyses, simulation studies and small-scale practical tests confirm that with the inclusion of Intelligent Transport System we can increase safety on roads. A continuous collective effort from all parties involved is essential if the development and implementation of ITS are to stay on the right course.

This year our objective to organize SAFE Annual Convention 2012 at Lucknow is to spread knowledge on ITS and best practices implemented in the area of safety with enforcement, infrastructure development, education and vehicular safety.  On 3rd May 2012, the programme will be inaugurated by senior officials from Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Transport Department and Uttar Pradesh Traffic Police.
