modernization is important for reducing the pollution load from the transport
sector. There is a need to address the issues and challenges of recycling
in India and prepare a roadmap for this to happen. In this regard, SIAM
is organizing a second seminar on “Recycling of Vehicles”
to discuss concern, challenges and roadmap for Recycling in India. The
first one was held on 7th January 2010 during Auto Expo 2010 at New Delhi.
In
this regard, you may be aware that the Department of Heavy Industries
(MoHI&PE) had initiated the “End of Life of Vehicle Regulation
(recycling)” formulation in India with support of Society of Indian
Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), National Automotive Testing and R&D
Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) and others. A demonstration centre, Chennai
set up by NATRiP is expected to be functional by March 2011 and SIAM is
in process of vehicles collection for the centre.
In view of the above,
SIAM is organizing a seminar as per details given below.

In
this seminar, speakers will share their experiences and learning from
their country perspective that are aggressively involved in the process,
problems faced in running recycling centre, procedure for collection system
of vehicles/components etc and how the same could be considered for India.
International speakers are invited from Europe, Japan and China to make
presentation and share their experiences. There would also be presentations
from ARAI, component manufacturer and international consultants. The seminar
would be attended by policy makers, senior government officials, OEMs,
automotive components industry, test agencies and others.
