SIAM is organizing a Seminar on “Recycling of Vehicles” on 7th January 2010 at Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Center, New Delhi.
The objective of this one day seminar is to understand the existing ELV regulations in different countries & its relevance in developing countries.. The new vehicles comply with all the safety and emission regulations and are technically aligned with ECE regulations. However many of the old vehicles plying on the roads could have reached their end-of-life. In absence of scrappage policy in India, the old vehicles are being dismantled in the unorganized sector after their usable life or accident thus posing serious concerns for environment and safety. This system leads to losses in recovery due inefficient processes adopted for handling the ELVs.
To understand the importance of ELV regulations, international speakers would be sharing their experience in this seminar. There would be presentations from academia & international consultants also. The seminar would be attended by policy makers, senior government officials, automotive industry, testing agencies & other selected organizations. The seminar is organized in conjunction with the forthcoming Auto Expo scheduled from 5th to 11th January 2010 giving participants an excellent opportunity to visit the fair.
